the da Vinci code

A lot has been said about the new hype in religious and irreligious circles, the best-seller ‘the Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown, and the upcoming film. In an effort to show the truth behind the Da Vinci code, Westminster Theological Seminary created a new website that isĀ  very worth paying a visit called the Truth about Da Vinci

Leesvoer

Gisteren bracht de postbode twee boeken. Nieuw leesvoer dus, alsof er niet nog een hele stapel ligt te wachten.

Binnenkort hoop ik hier wat meer over te schrijven, maar hier zijn alvast de titels:

  • Mark Driscoll – the Radical Reformission; reaching out without selling out
  • Michael Horton – God of Promise; introducing covenant theology

Beiden meer dan de moeite waard om te lezen, de eerste in het kader van mijn ‘emerging church’ project, de tweede in het kader van mijn ‘rediscovering of the reformed faith’ project.

Sons of Korah

Already more than two years ago I discovered an Australian band that almost nobody knew about in Holland, neither in the USA. Their name is Sons of Korah, and they kind of redo the psalms in a contemporary style. When I first heard them, I was completely blown away by the powerful message of the psalms in their recordings. Although I was raised in a church where we sing almost only psalms (until a couple of years ago), I never experienced that the message of these ancient songs was so relevant for my life, my struggles and my joy. Since that moment I have been a huge fan of them, and even imported and sold their CD’s to a large number of people in the Netherlands (and the USA).

Within due time, they will release their first live DVD called ‘Sons of Korah the experience’ and I am eagerly awaiting this release. If you want to see a trailer of this DVD go to their website http://www.sonsofkorah.com or watch the sample clip from their distributor (this is a bit different from the trailor on the SOK website)

upcoming posts and moderation policy

Some news again. Last weeks I was very busy, my thesis needs to be finished and I put a large paper on the desk of my supervisor. In the meanwhile my thoughts did not stand still. I have read and thought a lot about the emergent church in the last couple of weeks, and I plan to write something about it in the next weeks, specifically directed towards the Dutch cultural situation and viewed from my reformed background, or in other words ‘from a critically emergent-minded viewpoint’ if that helps you ;)

If you want to comment on my posts, feel free to do so. I noticed that my blog was discovered by some spam-bots who placed an aweful lot of junk comments, so I decided – unfortunately – that I had to switch off the automatic placement of comments and have to approve them all before they appear on my blog. So be patient if your comment doesn’t appear immediately.
