Housing!
Got a house! Together with two other students, who I don’t know yet (but that will change soon!), I will live in an apartment at Tuxford Dr. It’s a three bedroom/two bath apt, 1200 sq. ft. with a shared living/dining/kitchen. You can see a floorplan and a bird’s eye view below.

New Layout II
hi there! Again a new look for my blog. And good news, I have installed a spam-fighter which makes it possible to switch off the strict moderation-policy. I hope to write something in the near future, but I am very busy at the moment, preparing my contribution on Science & Religion for the Netherlands conference of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students next weekend (around ascencion day).
Just came across a wonderful site today: the veritas-forum with dozens of lectures and discussions by christians who do not avoid asking and answering the hard questions, really exploring true life.

the da Vinci code
A lot has been said about the new hype in religious and irreligious circles, the best-seller ‘the Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown, and the upcoming film. In an effort to show the truth behind the Da Vinci code, Westminster Theological Seminary created a new website that isĀ very worth paying a visit called the Truth about Da Vinci

Sons of Korah
Already more than two years ago I discovered an Australian band that almost nobody knew about in Holland, neither in the USA. Their name is Sons of Korah, and they kind of redo the psalms in a contemporary style. When I first heard them, I was completely blown away by the powerful message of the psalms in their recordings. Although I was raised in a church where we sing almost only psalms (until a couple of years ago), I never experienced that the message of these ancient songs was so relevant for my life, my struggles and my joy. Since that moment I have been a huge fan of them, and even imported and sold their CD’s to a large number of people in the Netherlands (and the USA).
Within due time, they will release their first live DVD called ‘Sons of Korah the experience’ and I am eagerly awaiting this release. If you want to see a trailer of this DVD go to their website http://www.sonsofkorah.com or watch the sample clip from their distributor (this is a bit different from the trailor on the SOK website)

upcoming posts and moderation policy
Some news again. Last weeks I was very busy, my thesis needs to be finished and I put a large paper on the desk of my supervisor. In the meanwhile my thoughts did not stand still. I have read and thought a lot about the emergent church in the last couple of weeks, and I plan to write something about it in the next weeks, specifically directed towards the Dutch cultural situation and viewed from my reformed background, or in other words ‘from a critically emergent-minded viewpoint’ if that helps you
If you want to comment on my posts, feel free to do so. I noticed that my blog was discovered by some spam-bots who placed an aweful lot of junk comments, so I decided – unfortunately – that I had to switch off the automatic placement of comments and have to approve them all before they appear on my blog. So be patient if your comment doesn’t appear immediately.

Some posts in English
I decided today to make my blog bi-lingual. However, most post still will be in Dutch, some of the most intesting post I will also write in English, since my English speaking group of friends gradually increases. So, if you don’t speak Dutch, keep a look on the Englisch-cat and stay up-to-date (more or less).
God Bless, Arend
